Szczecin Philharmonic was founded in 1948.
In 2007 Szczecin's City Council decided that it will be moved to other location.
When the first projects were showed to a public it had started a long and emotional conversation. When it was finally decided, the public was very critical about a project. However, the city did not yield under pressure.
The building was designed by Studio Barozzi Veiga from Barcelona.
In 2015 the new building of the philharmonic was awarded the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture.
